This is not meant to be a comprehensive dataset, just a small testing sample to identify whether academic researchers are citing non traditional outputs in a standardised manner. eg. http://www.force11.org/datacitation</p> <p> </p> <p>As can be seen, only 10 out of the 40 are cited in the reference list, as is the recommendation. The fact that bibliometric companies that are involved in citation counting only look at reference lists suggests this approach may be problematic as academics change their thinking towards non-pdf based research outputs.</p> <p> </p> <p>The citations were taken from a random selection of google scholar notification emails. All articles in the dataset have the citation in front of the paywall.</p>
