Slides to my talk on October 20, 2015 at "Maximize your research impact", organized by Library and Information Systems at Tilburg University

Abstract:

“Accept only after scrutiny, if at all” could be science’s slogan if there were one. Our daily research practices directly affect our research results, but they have seen less scrutiny than is worthy of researchers. The Impact Factor? Many still abide by it. Technological advances that can help your project management? Let’s stick to what we know. This type of inertia causes a stronghold on your impact as a researcher, which can only be broken through by applying the scrutiny we hold dear. Changes in the process can even make your work more enjoyable (or at least less frustrating). In this talk, I will review some of the current practices, how they affect our efficiency, impact and the view of impact, and give practical suggestions to improve the research process straight away.
